Mastering the Art of Vinted Reselling to Boost Your Income
Buying and reselling on Vinted can be a surprisingly simple way to make money.
You can start with very little: as little as £20 or £50, just enough to buy one or two items to resell.
And eventually turn it into your main activity, earning over £1,000 a month.
The biggest professional resellers spend over £1,000 a day buying on Vinted.
Imagine their monthly turnover: no less than £30,000 a month!!
Buying and reselling on Vinted is a way to make money online that is easy to get started with.
Many items are not listed at their true market value.
Your job is to buy them first for a low price and resell them at a higher price, pocketing the difference.
In financial terms, this technique is called arbitrage.
It's completely legal, even if it sometimes annoys other users who are frustrated at missing out on bargains!
This guide to buying and reselling on Vinted has been designed for beginners, as well as for those who want to sharpen their skills and make more money.
It includes tips, tricks, and techniques that will help you buy at the best price and resell at whatever price you choose.
A classic example is a Ralph Lauren puffer jacket bought for under £30 on Vinted and then sold for over £100.
To resell successfully you'll need the best tools, so make sure you also read my guide on the Best Vinted Bots.
We'll also cover the different aspects of Vinted reselling, including how to choose which products to buy and sell, how to create an effective listing, and much more!
With this practical guide, you'll be able to become a Vinted reselling pro and maximise your profits.
Why Does Buying and Reselling on Vinted Work?
Buying and reselling on Vinted works because there is more margin available on items, giving you a better chance of making money.
Here's why.
Fees are much lower
Fees are significantly lower than on other platforms like eBay or Vestiaire Collective.
On Vinted, fees are £0.70 + 5% applied only to the item price, and they are only charged to the buyer.
On a £20 item, the buyer fee is £1.70.
There are no seller fees on Vinted.
On eBay, the commission includes shipping costs, and buyers often use PayPal which charges its own fees.
eBay fees on a £20 garment are around 8% + £5 shipping, so roughly £2.35 in eBay fees.
PayPal fees are approximately £0.35 + 2.9%, which adds up to around £1.08 per transaction.
That's a combined total of around £3.43 in eBay + PayPal fees.
Delivery costs are very low
Vinted offers click-and-collect delivery services that are very affordable.
A Mondial Relay parcel for a small item costs around £2.88, whereas a home delivery via Royal Mail could cost £6.55.
Vinted has also launched its own delivery service, Vinted GO, which is even cheaper.
A Vinted GO parcel for a small item costs just £2.79.
There is a huge supply of items
From Vinted you can buy items from France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and more.
That's over 30 million listings posted every week.
That's millions of items being sold by people who just want to clear out their wardrobes, often without knowing the true market value of what they're selling.
And that means millions of opportunities to buy and resell on Vinted!
What Products Should You Sell on Vinted to Make Money?
Learn to spot the best items to flip for a profit!
Since you're investing money upfront, you need to choose your items carefully.
You can make a margin on clothing, jewellery, video games, and even books.
To consistently find great items at the right price, you need a good understanding of current trends and the ability to anticipate what's about to take off in the market.
Don't hesitate to study what other sellers are listing and what's selling quickly, as it'll give you a clear picture of what's in demand.
Start small and focus on branded items with a strong resale market.
For clothing, go for the most popular brands: Nike, Ralph Lauren, Carhartt, Lacoste, The North Face, and Tommy Hilfiger.
You can also focus on luxury brands such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, Prada, and more.
Here are the most popular product categories for buying and reselling on Vinted:
- Branded clothing (Nike, Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Carhartt, etc.)
- Luxury clothing (Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, Hermès, Burberry, etc.)
- Football shirts (Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, etc.)
- Sneakers (Jordan, Nike Dunk, etc.)
- Collectible cards (Pokémon, Panini, etc.)
- Branded perfumes and cosmetics (Dior, Chanel, Guerlain, etc.)
- Gold and silver jewellery (Pandora)
- Rare books or Manga
- Video games and rare or retro consoles (PS5, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- Job lots sold cheaply that can be broken up and resold individually (clearance stock, etc.)
- Lego and Playmobil
- Figures and dolls (Barbie, Disney, Harry Potter)
- Collector's items: vinyl records, etc.
- Sealed items that hold or increase in value second-hand
Bear in mind that these niches are already highly competitive, so you need to be quick and have a sharp eye to find the best deals.
It's up to you to find new niches and exploit them to make money!
Identify a niche of rare, highly sought-after products, buy them all up, and resell them at a higher price, effectively driving up their value.
This way, you create scarcity around certain in-demand items.
Look for products that are no longer in production, with genuine demand, from buyers who either have the money or are passionate collectors.
You can also play on price differences between two countries that don't interact much on Vinted, such as France and Germany, to multiply your earning opportunities.
All of these are niches ripe for making money.
Well-priced items on Vinted can sell within minutes.
I'd strongly recommend using a Vinted bot like Souk to be the first to buy items.
You get a notification the second an item is listed for sale.
That way, you'll never miss a great deal!

Which Items Should You Buy for Vinted Reselling?
By studying the keywords of listings that sell within minutes, you learn a great deal about the state of the buy-and-sell market.
A word of warning: competition is fierce on these products, and you'll need to be quick to find the bargains.
You'll almost certainly need to use a Vinted Bot to buy these items.
Reselling Clothing
Take a look at my article on the brands that sell fastest on Vinted.
For clothing, there's an endless list of underexploited brands: Gant, Abercrombie & Fitch, Napapijri, Patagonia, and more.
Stick to neutral colours like black, grey, and white, which appeal to the widest range of buyers.
Similarly for sizes: go for S, M, and L, which are the most in demand and easiest to resell.
Avoid extreme sizes like XS or XL, which are harder to shift.
Pay attention to the seasons!
In winter, try to pick up t-shirts or dresses at low prices, while in summer, puffer jackets and heavy knitwear will be less in demand.
Then, when the relevant season comes back around, you can resell them at a much better price.
If you manage to snap up a puffer jacket in winter at a reduced price, even better: you can turn it around for a premium immediately!
Reselling Sneakers
The sneaker reselling market is extremely active.
To make sure you're buying a pair at the right price, you can compare recent sale prices on StockX to calculate the available margin.
Reselling Books
If books are your thing, a very effective technique is to buy out-of-print books that fetch high prices on the secondhand market.
To get a feel for the market, check Amazon and CamelCamelCamel to find books that are highly ranked in sales charts (most in demand) and selling at premium prices.
Reselling Video Games
Reselling Video Games - Pokémon Sold by Rétrogameplay
Retro gaming is absolutely exploding right now.
Certain old video games are incredibly sought after by collectors.
You can use the prices on retrogameplay.fr as a guide to what collectors are looking for.
For example, Pokémon games for the Game Boy Advance regularly resell for over £200.
Reselling Luxury Goods and Jewellery
Be extremely careful about counterfeits: there are a lot of fake luxury items on Vinted.
Avoid buying from brand new profiles unless, after messaging the seller, they seem legitimate.
For certain items, you can use Certilogo to verify the authenticity of the product.
This involves scanning a QR code linked to a serial number on the Certilogo website, which tells you whether the item is genuine.
Always check that the model listed on Vinted matches the one shown on the Certilogo website.
Vinted Dropshipping
Some resellers use dropshipping techniques to buy and resell on Vinted.
Dropshipping involves sourcing a product at a very low price from a Chinese e-commerce site like AliExpress and having it shipped directly to the customer.
This removes the need to manage stock or pay for shipping upfront; you only spend money once you've made a sale.
The downside is that delivery times can be very long, and this technique is becoming increasingly well-known.
Products that work well for this type of reselling include pet accessories (light-up dog collars) or trendy, high-perceived-value items like period underwear.
To find good products on AliExpress, I pick a category and sort by "Orders" to see the best-selling items.
For the pet category, that looks like: https://fr.aliexpress.com/category/205003784/pet-products.html?SortType=total_tranpro_desc
Buying Outside of Vinted
Don't limit yourself to Vinted as a sourcing platform; car boot sales and flea markets can be goldmines.
For example, at the Montreuil flea market, a friend found highly sought-after branded clothing for £3 a piece, which she resold for over £40.
These were brands like Sandro or Sézane (not well known to the general public, so overlooked by dealers), but they sell very well on Vinted.
On Dealabs, you can often find great deals on bulk clothing lots.
Searching "lot Nike" on the site turns up bundles like 3 Nike t-shirts for £30, or 2 Nike sweatshirts for £50.
Private sale websites are also a great sourcing option.
Showroomprivé Outlet offers branded clothing at up to 80% off the original price.

Keep an Eye on Your Margin
Don't forget that when you buy, you need to factor in shipping costs and Vinted fees on both the purchase and the sale.
To generate a worthwhile net profit, the difference between your resale price and your purchase price should be at least £15–20.
Don't forget that you're also spending time searching for the best items, then handling the logistics of receiving and shipping orders.
Not to mention managing your shop, writing listings, responding to buyer questions, taking photos, and so on.
In clothing, many resellers rarely pay more than £15 for garments and only go higher for big-ticket pieces like coats or bags.
Optimise Your Time
As you've just seen, buying and reselling takes time.
Don't hesitate to use a Vinted Bot to save time.
Use Souk to receive real-time notifications the moment an item matching your criteria is listed for sale.
Organise your days so you can collect your incoming parcels and drop off your sold items in a single trip.
Prepare your listings in advance to save time.
You could, for example, post an item you've bought on Vinted onto another platform before you've even received it.
Many platforms give you a few days to confirm a sale, so you can hold the buyer off and send the parcel once you've received it.
Focus your efforts on the days when the most items are posted.
Most Vinted listings go up at the weekend, from Friday evening to Sunday evening: that's when you need to be most alert and ready to buy.
Selling on Vinted
I won't go into too much detail on how to create a listing, as that's already covered in my guide to creating listings on Vinted.
Always set your asking price a little higher and let the buyer make an offer.
You wouldn't want to leave extra margin on the table.

Other Tips
Testing Demand for a Product
You can test demand for a product by creating a listing on another platform with delivery.
Many platforms always ask the seller to confirm once a sale is made, so you can always cancel by simply not responding to the buyer.
Don't hesitate to use this technique freely: post one or more listings at a higher price for items you could source.
If potential buyers contact you or even purchase the product, you'll have a few days before you need to confirm the sale.
That gives you just enough time to receive the Vinted item, or at least confirm that there's real demand for it.
Anticipating Trends via Google
Google Trends lets you see what people are searching for on Google.
You can use it to anticipate what buyers will be looking for on Vinted, or to discover more niche items and brands.
For example, if you look at the keyword puffer jacket in the London area, you can see that interest rises every year with a peak in November.
In the "Related Queries" column, you discover brands associated with the keyword: Trapstar and Paragoose.
You'll also notice the related term "heated jacket".

Following Influencers
Some influencers specialise in buying and reselling.
I'd recommend watching the YouTube videos of Felix Beauregard and TRFQNT (trafiquant).
Felix Beauregard is a specialist in sneaker reselling.
He posts plenty of videos explaining how to buy sneakers at low prices.
He also shares his techniques for selling effectively on Vinted.
Declaring Your Vinted Income
Be aware that once you exceed a certain threshold, you'll need to declare your income from buying and reselling.
In the UK, you need to report income to HMRC if your total selling income exceeds £1,000 in a tax year under the Trading Allowance rules.
Vinted may share your sales data with tax authorities.
If you become a professional seller, I'd recommend setting up as a sole trader.
It can be done in just a few clicks online.
As a sole trader in the buy-and-resell business, you can earn significant income; just make sure to keep records of your costs to offset against your profits when filing your tax return.
