Vinted USA: How It Works for Buyers and Resellers

Is Vinted available in the US?

Yes. Vinted has had a US site, vinted.com, since 2013, but for years it stayed small next to Poshmark, Depop and eBay.

That changed in 2026. Vinted announced a major US push starting with New York and a budget of tens of millions of dollars for its American operations.

The app took off: according to Appfigures estimates, Vinted went from about 286,000 US downloads between January and April 2025 to about 2.6 million over the same period in 2026.

If you are hearing about Vinted for the first time, this guide explains how it works in the US, what it costs, and why resellers are paying attention.

How does Vinted work?

Vinted is a peer-to-peer marketplace for secondhand clothing, shoes, accessories and more.

  1. Sellers list items from the app or the website: photos, title, brand, size, condition and price.
  2. Buyers search with filters (brand, size, price, condition, color) or browse the feed.
  3. Buyers can buy now, make an offer, or message the seller to bundle several items.
  4. The seller ships with a prepaid label and gets paid once the buyer confirms everything is fine.

There are no auctions: the first person to pay gets the item. That detail matters a lot when an underpriced item shows up, and we will come back to it below.

How much does Vinted cost in the US?

The big difference with other US resale apps is who pays.

  • Sellers pay no selling fee. Listing is free and Vinted takes no commission on the sale.
  • Buyers pay a Vinted fee on each order. According to Vinted's US price list, it is about 5% of the item price plus $0.70. Until October 2026 it was called the Buyer Protection fee.
  • Buyers pay shipping, unless the seller offers it.

On a $40 jacket, the buyer pays about $42.70 plus shipping, and the seller keeps the full $40.

Fees change, so always check the amount shown at checkout and Vinted's own price list.

How does shipping work on Vinted USA?

When an item sells, Vinted generates a prepaid shipping label. In the US, labels go through USPS.

The seller prints the label (or shows a code at the post office), packs the item and drops it off. Shipping is priced by package size, which is why choosing the right size when listing matters.

Is buying on Vinted USA safe?

Purchases paid through Vinted are covered by its buyer protection.

  • The money is held until the order is completed.
  • Once an item is marked as delivered, the buyer has 2 days to report a problem (item not as described, damaged, wrong item).
  • If nothing is reported, the order completes automatically and the seller gets paid.

The main rule: never pay outside Vinted. A seller asking you to pay by bank transfer or another app is a red flag. We cover this in detail in Is Vinted Legit?.

Why resellers are moving to Vinted

For resellers, the US launch is an opportunity.

  • No seller fees means better margins than on Poshmark, which takes 20% on most sales. See our comparisons Vinted vs Poshmark and Vinted vs Depop.
  • Many casual sellers are clearing out their closets and do not always know what their items are worth. Brand-name pieces regularly get listed far below their resale value.
  • A young marketplace means fewer experienced buyers competing for each deal than on eBay.

The catch: the best deals do not stay online for long. When a well-priced item from a sought-after brand appears, it often sells within minutes.

How to find the best deals on Vinted first

Vinted lets you save searches, but you still have to open the app and refresh to see what is new. By the time you see a great listing, someone else may have bought it.

This is what a Vinted monitor is for. With Souk, you:

  • Create alerts by brand, category, size, condition, keywords and price range.
  • Get a push notification the moment a matching item is listed on Vinted.
  • Follow a live feed of every new listing that matches your alerts.
  • Buy in one click with Autobuy, straight from the notification, so you can check out before other buyers.

Souk works with Vinted accounts in the US as well as in Europe.
