Vinted vs Poshmark: Which Is Better to Buy and Sell?

Vinted vs Poshmark in short

Poshmark has been the go-to US app for secondhand fashion for over a decade. Vinted, the European leader, started pushing hard into the US in 2026 and quickly became one of the most downloaded resale apps in the country.

The main difference: on Poshmark the seller pays, on Vinted the buyer pays.

Fees change: always check each platform's current price list before pricing your items.

Fees: Vinted wins for sellers

This is where the two apps differ the most.

On Poshmark, a sale of $15 or more costs you 20% of the price. On a $50 sale, you keep $40.

On Vinted, sellers pay no commission. On a $50 sale, you keep $50. The buyer pays a Vinted fee on top (about 5% + $0.70, so around $3.20 on $50).

For a reseller who sells dozens of items a month, that 20% is often the difference between a profitable item and a wasted one.

Shipping

Both apps use prepaid labels paid by the buyer.

  • Poshmark uses a flat-rate label up to a weight limit, the same price whatever the item.
  • Vinted prices shipping by parcel size, which makes small, cheap items (t-shirts, accessories) more attractive to buyers.

In the US, Vinted labels go through USPS. See how Vinted USA works for the full process.

Audience and how items sell

Poshmark is a social marketplace. Sellers "share" their listings to push them up in the feed and take part in themed Posh Parties. Selling well takes time spent sharing every day.

Vinted is more search-driven. Buyers use filters (brand, size, price, condition) and saved searches. Your listing is mostly seen when it is new or when it matches a search, so good titles, brands and photos matter more than daily sharing.

Poshmark's US audience is still larger. Vinted's is growing fast, with millions of new US downloads in 2026.

Buyer protection

Both platforms hold the payment until the buyer confirms the order.

  • On Vinted, the buyer has 2 days after delivery to report an issue. Read Is Vinted Legit? for how it works and the scams to avoid.
  • On Poshmark, the buyer has a short window after delivery to accept the order or open a case, and higher-priced items can go through authentication.

Which one should you use?

Choose Vinted if:

  • You want to keep 100% of your sale price.
  • You sell many lower-priced items, where Poshmark's fees hurt the most.
  • You buy to resell: casual sellers clearing out their closets list brand-name items below their resale value.

Choose Poshmark if:

  • You sell higher-priced items to an established US audience.
  • You are happy to spend time sharing and taking part in Posh Parties.

Many resellers do both: source on Vinted, sell wherever the item gets the best price.

Buying on Vinted to resell: speed is everything

Underpriced items on Vinted rarely last long. A well-priced piece from a sought-after brand can be bought within minutes of being listed.

Resellers use a Vinted monitor like Souk to:

  • Get a push notification the moment an item matching their alert is listed.
  • Follow a live feed of new listings filtered by brand, size and price.
  • Buy in one click with Autobuy, before other buyers.

FAQ

Is Vinted cheaper than Poshmark?

For sellers, yes: Vinted charges no seller fee, while Poshmark takes 20% on sales of $15 and more. For buyers, Vinted adds a Vinted fee of about 5% + $0.70 per order.

Can I sell the same item on Vinted and Poshmark?

Yes, many resellers cross-list. Remove the listing from the other app as soon as it sells to avoid selling it twice.

Is Vinted replacing Poshmark?

Not yet. Poshmark still has a larger US audience, but Vinted has been gaining ground fast since its 2026 US expansion.
